Nature Deficit Disorder

I ran into a very interesting video yesterday while doing homework for my online class.

Its about a thing that is called Nature Deficit Disorder..

"Pediatricians are now saying that this generation of children may be the first to have a lower life expectancy than their parents." Richard Louv (Writer and Children's Advocate)

This is because children are always inside. They are not being exposed to germs and other things that our generation was exposed to on a daily basis.

Nature Deficit Disorder is not a known term but it is what Louv uses to explain what is happening as we advance in technology and children stay indoors.

Nature experiences are great for learning and creativity. This is what scares me. If creativity dies out with the increase of indoor activities what is going to happen in our future?

Without creativity nothing productive will ever happen.

Think about it, it isn't just about painting and photography, but also technology and inventions.

Sure, it's hard to think about the world of technology ceasing to increase. But if nobody is creative, nothing can be invented.

It's not just about having fun in the "great outdoors.."

Random interesting fact, if there is a green view outside of your window, stress levels go down. If just a green view makes your stress levels go down, what would being outside in the green do for you?

I don't know, those are just some of my thoughts on the subject. If you have any thoughts feel free to email/ message me. Let's talk about it!

    1. I want my siblings and I to have ridiculous life spans! Like holy cow, they're still alive!? haha. I love being outside, it really is calming. Everyone should be outside, all the time. aha Except when it snows...Stay indoors, its way too cold.

Week 3 - Good Morning!

Goooooood Morning! I'm going to come right out with it. I have not been doing great at getting up early. That's because over the weekend, I decided that what I wanted to do with my extra time, was cuddle with my fiancé. It was late mornings from there. BUT! Here I am, at 6:30am, writing to you. It's not all bad! I'm up earlier than usual. Positive thinking right? Had an amazing weekend, had a photoshoot with some women I didn't really know and we pretended we were in a Coven for Halloween, I'll attach some stuff for you to look at. 👀 And as always life is busy busy busy, but I'm choosing to look at it as "productive".  I always like ticking something off my list!  Next list to start working on, my wedding planning list. Who would have thought there was SO much to getting married! 😅 I hope you enjoyed the small snippet I shared! Comment and tell me what you thought!

Life Changes

The year 2018 was not a good year for me. Two things that will send someone into a crippling depression happened to me... As I am still healing from this most recent one, I don't want to go into much detail. But for the rest of this post to make sense you'll need to know that Vincent and I are no longer together, after 8 years.. As time goes by I expect I will be able to open up about it. The past few years I have been stagnant. I still started a Master's program and got a new job as a manager, but I was just existing. I wasn't actually living my life. At the beginning of October I started a 6 week fitness challenge at a CrossFit gym in town. I lost 15 pounds and began to love myself again. But I still wasn't happy. It took the earth shattering, heart breaking, event to make me realize that I needed to do something about the way I have been living. I was one of those people who got up, went to work, came home and sat on the couch watching TV and waiting for the ...

Life In Technicolor

I'm writing tonight's post to the song 'Life in Technicolor II' By Coldplay. I forgot how much I enjoy Coldplay. They can put me in such a relaxed mood. Almost perfect for writing. I've had a pretty bland day. I got up around 11am, which is way later than I wanted to get up.. I used my color chart, which told me I should wear lavender on Mondays.. It helps me get dressed faster in the morning ha. Anyway, I took my finals today.. It went bad for accounting, but I didn't really expect any different. Cheers to taking that class a third time! I'm not stupid I swear. I just lacked conviction lately. Which will change. My math final went pretty well..Matching graphs to equations is my downfall so I'm sure I missed a few points there, I passed the class though! When I got home I realized that I had the rest of my day to myself, some people love that feeling, nothing to do. I'm not like others, I prefer to be busy, keeps my mind off things. One of...
