So if you pay attention to my blog, you may have noticed that I mention the band Coldplay A LOT.
All my posts so far have been named after a Coldplay song..(minus maybe 2)
This is for a couple reasons, Coldplay is my favorite band, I listen to them at least once a day. Some times I listen to them all day. It differs, like it probably does with your favorite bands.
I have heard some upsetting things about them though, for instance, Family Guy makes fun of them quite often. Calls them a band that white males listen to, specifically teenagers. And people are always saying that they are just awful.
I'm here to change your mind based off just the good things the band has done, as members of the community, not so much a band.
Coldplay began making music in 1998, and from their very start, they have been giving 10% of everything they make to charity.
Also, in 2009 they were "carbon neutral" during one of their concerts. Coldplay funded a wind farm to supply most of the electricity needed for the event.
And for our "tree hugging" buddies out there, Coldplay has been planting trees in an effort to replace and renew carbon.
The above facts were written by Rose on this website: http://www.thedeadtrees.com/coldplay-gives-to-the-world/
And if those few little facts were not enough, they even ask that all gifts which are intended for the band be donated to a charity instead.
If you go to this website you can find more information on how Coldplay gives back as a band: https://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/coldplay
Also on the site mentioned just above you can see the charities they are involved in, including: Cancer Active, Children with Aids, Every Mother Counts, Mercy Corps, Oxfam, Red Cross and St. Jude's Research Hospital.
To make it even better, the lead singer, Chris Martin, was born in England! Heck yes, everything is better in England, in my opinion. I've never been, but all my favorite things are from there..
That's one good looking band.
